Our Philosophy
Personal Employment is one of the most important things in a person's life, and lies at the centre of our sense of well being, self worth and our sense of contribution to society. Despite this importance, too often employees feel that they are helpless to effectively deal with their employers while employed, and powerless to protect their interests upon termination. To those employees that do not know their legal rights it sometimes appears that the playing field is tilted in favour of the employer at the expense of the employee.
At Sawers McFarlane we believe that the best way to level the playing field is to educate our clients to ensure they fully understand that they are not alone, and that they have enforceable legal rights. In most cases this means that once you retain us, we will provide you with our preliminary legal opinion that outlines your rights and options customized to your particular situation. It is our belief that this preliminary opinion enables our clients to make informed decisions about their employment and financial positions during their current employment, and after their termination.
In many cases this process allows us to help our clients avoid workplace disputes, and litigation. But if litigation is required, we utilize this initial game plan as part of a comprehensive legal strategy to protect our clients' rights and interests, and to maximize their recovery.
